Shaw Wilgis
Environmental Economics Analyst
Shaw’s passion for environmental markets is rooted in a generational connection to nature and the East Coast of the US. That connection deepened during his studies, where he wrote a thesis on the potential of oyster restoration to improve water quality in polluted salt marsh creeks. The project shaped how he approached economics with a focus on the value and importance of sustainability and the environment.
Shaw began working alongside Earth Recovery Partners in 2023 to develop Clean Tides, an aquatic biodiversity credit platform and methodology. Through this work, he gained hands-on experience navigating the emerging biodiversity credit space, including leading the development of pilot projects and co-leading an international marine subgroup for the Biodiversity Credit Alliance focused on shaping high-level guidance for future markets.
In addition, Shaw has played a key role in several Earth Recovery Partners initiatives. Most notably, he conducted a detailed data analysis in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to identify and correct discrepancies in RIBITS data across all active mitigation banks in Virginia—helping to update the state’s central mitigation database and laying groundwork for a complementary trading ledger.
Shaw continues to support Earth Recovery Partners through data analysis, technical and creative support, and project development. He brings a detail-oriented mindset, willingness to learn, and a deep interest in the evolving intersection of business and nature.
